dc.description.abstractTraffic congestion is a major problem for metropolitan areas globally, affecting efficiency, liveability of environments, and welfare of the travellers. This chapter looks at how smart traffic management system will mitigate these problems by applying Advanced technologies like; Artificial intelligence (AI), IoT, Blockchain, and real-time data analytics. These technologies provide ability for traffic analysis, traffic congestion forecast, and flow management by intelligent traffic signals, dynamic routing and effective integration of autonomous vehicles into urban transport systems. This chapter considers current cases of smart traffic systems in cities such as Singapore and Amsterdam where they have proven to optimize travel time and improve efficiency of public transport systems. In terms of using knowledge-based systems, it has significant technical, financial, and regulatory constraints when it comes to deployment and the work calls for the formation of a public-private partnership, partnership.
