Abstract

This chapter explores the difficult moral issues that artificial intelligence (AI) is bringing about as it changes society. It examines the points where AIs expanding influence raises new ethical and legal conundrums: privacy autonomy and personhood. As the chapter looks at how AI systems gather and use personal data it raises questions regarding data ownership and control and changes privacy standards. It also discusses the idea of AI personhood raising issues such as whether sophisticated AI systems ought to have moral or legal standing and the ramifications for accountability rights and responsibility. The chapter also examines human and AI autonomy examining how AIs decision-making powers affect human freedom and control. Keywords: AI, Ethical Crosswords, Ai Autonomy
