LE-GREEN in Hotel Supply Chains

Abstract

In this age of cut throat competition, businesses are increasingly looking to ways that can help continuously improve their processes by ensuring a highly quality output at a minimum cost. Supply chains have also started realizing that they must assess and attain sustainability in order to remain competitive. Lean and Green (LeGreen) are the methodologies that can help supply chains to overcome such inefficiencies. Severe competition among hotel supply chains have forced their operations managers to take advantage of lean green practices as a sustainable competitive strategy. Despite the growing emphasis by practitioners and academics on enforcing and measuring LeGreen; the assessment of LeGreen on the sustainable performance of hotel supply chains still remains unexplored. This research aims to expand the conceptualization of LeGreen model and to explore the impact of proposed model on the performance of service supply chains of United Arab Emirates (UAE). The empirical data will be collected through a survey distributed to a sample of major hotel companies in the UAE. A conceptual framework will be then tested and analyzed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) using the data collected from different 4 and 5 stars hotel and proposed framework can be subsequently used by the hotel companies in the UAE and in other countries.
