Abstract

Problem-solving is one of the essential characteristics of mathematical activities and serves as an approach to developing mathematical knowledge. The primary goal of teaching and learning mathematics is to cultivate the ability to solve complex mathematical problems. However, the problem-solving process in mathematics has not received the attention it deserves. This may be because teachers themselves are less comfortable with the aspects of problem-solving. As a result, they do not teach the techniques and processes involved in problem-solving. This paper will examine the beliefs of pre-service teachers regarding problem-solving and how these beliefs change with the use of information technology. This initiative integrates information and communication technology into mathematics teaching methods courses with the aim of changing students' beliefs and perceptions about problem-solving. It is intended to enable them to become more capable problem solvers while also enhancing their ability to develop broader problem-solving strategies.
