Abstract

This study examines the issue of supplier selection using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method. The main objective of this study is to identify the best procurement criteria, addressing both critical and non-critical buying situations in government organizations in the UAE. The proposal includes a thorough review of the literature on current best practices that address the challenges faced by procurement professionals in public organizations in the supplier selection process. The study will propose a new practical model for supplier selection, based on the MCDM model and the AHP method. The proposed model will include the interests of new stakeholders in selection processes and is customized for public organizations working in the UAE business environment. In power and water applications, the final decision depends on the evaluation of a set of alternatives based on a number of decision criteria. This can be a difficult task, but the AHP appears to provide an effective way of properly quantifying the appropriate data.
