dc.description.abstractThe referential-description, spatial-description, and relative-description formulations in the finite-element approach to continuum-mechanics problems are reviewed and developed. Explicit final incremental equilibrium equations are derived; similar formulations in the literature are compared; and sample problems are analyzed.en_US
