Summary: Conventional IoT systems send data to centralized clouds, causing bandwidth bottleneck and latency issues. Edge and Fog computing mitigate these problems by processing data locally however expose sensitive information to novel threats. With the advancement in quantum computing, classical cryptographic methods face substantial risks, jeopardizing long-term data security. Since consumer IoT sensors and devices often function for even decades, safeguarding their data from future quantum attacks is critical. Integrating Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) into Edge Computing-Assisted Consumer IoT (EACI) systems offers a convincing solution. This special issue demonstrates research on novel PQC techniques for securing EACI frameworks against emerging quantum threats.
