Abstract
This chapter examines the central role of practice-based research in promoting transformative professional development. By integrating theoretical frameworks with practical applications, practitioners engage in a dynamic process that connects academic knowledge with real-world challenges. Through case studies and theoretical analyses, the chapter illustrates how practitioners use practice-based research to update and develop their professional practice. An approach that emphasizes reflexivity and iterative improvement not only improves individual skills, but also contributes to the wider discipline. Key themes include the iterative nature of practice-based research, the integration of tacit knowledge with explicit theories, and the development of reflective practice to promote continuous improvement. Practical strategies for integrating theory into practice are discussed, emphasizing the importance of collaborative networks and interdisciplinary dialogues.
