| dc.description.abstract | This short paper explores the suspension of food particles in larval rearing tanks and is concerned in particular with optimum aeration rates for a variety of tank designs and sizes, ranging form 5–1800 litres in volume and particle densities and diameters in the range 0·50 – 0·85 mm. The quality of the suspensions produced, quantified by the concentration of particles suspended in water, was determined as a function of the degree of aeration and it is concluded that there is a clearly defined optimum aeration rate for a given tank size and that, in general, the required aeration rate per unit volume of tank for satisfactory suspension of feeds is lower with larger tanks. | en_US |
