Community-Led Tourism and Social Equity: A Regenerative Approach to Sustainable Development

Abstract

This chapter examines how, within the context of regenerative development, tourism, equality, and community empowerment connect. Community-led tourism tackles the social and economic inequality that traditional tourist strategies frequently maintain by emphasizing local involvement and shared control. The first section of the chapter outlines the fundamentals of regenerative tourism, which actively restores and improves social, cultural, and environmental systems in addition to sustainability. It emphasizes how crucial fairness, inclusion, and teamwork are to developing tourism models that represent the needs and goals of regional communities. The transformational potential of community-led tourism is demonstrated via case studies that highlight programs that have effectively tackled problems including environmental restoration, cultural preservation, and poverty reduction.
